Eval4action campaign: evaluation, an essential catalyst for achieving the SDGs

Campagne Eval4Action

With a 10-year countdown, 2020 is an important year for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It is in this context that the UN called for the “Decade of Action” for an urgent and broad mobilization around these global ambitions.

The culture of evaluation at the heart of the decade for action

In this context, the “decade of evaluation for action”, or “Eval4Action campaign”, aims to recognize that evaluation is not only essential to the achievement of the SDGs but also that it constitutes a key accelerator. , including in the context of the current health and socio-economic crisis.

This campaign builds on the realization that global evaluation capacities are not advancing at the speed and scale required to achieve the SDGs, already largely undermined by the current crisis. Indeed, without a system to assess whether national and international actions are relevant, sustainable and yield equitable results, it will be impossible to achieve the SDGs on time.

Eval4Action thus intends to revitalize the global commitment to national evaluation capacities.

Youth at the center of a broad and inclusive campaign

Launched in April 2020, this campaign is considered in its intention and design, as particularly inclusive. Young people and in particular young evaluators play a central role.

Eval4action also mobilizes many stakeholders - parliaments, governments, evaluation associations, civil society - to foster more robust evaluation systems that can usefully inform public policies, ensuring that no one is left behind (" No one left behind ").
